This technology works thanks to a high-voltage electrical current that is discharged from the gun when the trigger is pulled. Two metal probes that are connected using metal wires ensure that the shock is quite powerful. The victim of electroshock is often paralyzed as a strong electrical currently passes through the body. The problem with this type of weapon is that once it is administered upon a person that is not in good physical health (and this term is used very loosely) that person can actually die from this type of shock. When a person has been shocked for a half-second, they will feel intense pain. Two to three seconds will cause a dazed look followed by collapse. More than three seconds can be deadly.
Civilians may be able to purchase these weapons, though the types that are for civilian sale are not as powerful as the ones that are used by police forces. It is important to check with your individual state in order to find out whether or not these guns are allowed. Most of the time, these guns are illegal when it comes to an individual owner. In various countries, these guns have killed numerous people when used incorrectly by police. What is a stun gun?
